Bristol, UK based video production company to assist in the making of Turkmenistan's first ever wildlife documentary
The documentary, produced in association with the BBC World Service Trust, will feature the wildlife of the Badkhyz Nature Reserve in southern Turkmenistan. A country of deserts and mountains bordering Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan provides a challenging filming environment. The wildlife includes eagles, mountain sheep, gazelle, caracal, wild horse, hyena and the endangered Persian Leopard.
Back To The Planet, founded in 2007 by former BBC cameraman Alan Pleass, will use their extensive experience to capture the wildlife of this rarely visited country on film. The team will train local Turkmen in camera and video production techniques. Alan said: "To work on this wildlife documentary is a great opportunity to film a number of rare and endangered species and visit a country that's only recently opened up to the western world"
Director of photography, Simon Williams will be travelling to Turkmenistan in March to start the development of the project with filming scheduled to begin in April. The BBC World Service Trust is the BBC's international charity, which uses independent media to support social and cultural development.
Back To The Planet offers all aspects of video production across multiple platforms with minimal environmental impact. Alan and Simon of Back To The Planet have worked with numerous big names during their careers in natural history and adventure travel filming including David Attenborough, Simon King, Bill Oddy, Andrew Marr and Kate Humble.

Further Information
Back To The Planet's (BTTP) approach to environmental good practice raises the bar for other companies in the industry to improve their environmental standards. "We keep our emissions and environmental impact to a minimum, and any unavoidable emissions from a production can be offset through a recognised scheme. We see carbon offsetting as the final stage in our approach, not the entire answer to being green", said Jenny, Researcher for BTTP. This is a unique approach among video production companies.
