South West media production company Back To The Planet (BTTP) has announced it will be creating an exciting community film project, documenting the journeys of people travelling from Bristol and the South West to the United Nations Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen (COP15).

Back To The Planet is an ethical video production company established in Bristol in 2007. The company delivers corporate videos and broadcast documentaries with an emphasis on ethical and environmental issues. "The aim of Back To The Planet is to promote the work of environmentally focussed organisations and bring environmental issues to the fore through film" said Alan Pleass, Company Director.

BTTP proposes to film the journey of a number of impassioned individuals, businesses, non-governmental organizations and activists from Bristol and the South West as they attend what has been billed as the most important environmental event of the decade. The film will portray their motivations, expectations and passions as they journey by bike, bus, train and ferry to Copenhagen and eventually come together and meet with other people from all over the globe who have made the same journey.

Among others, the film will include contributions from local residents, Christian Aid, Oxfam, direct action campaigners, Bristol's own Liberal Democrat councilor Barbara Janke, students, international youth delegates and big business. As the only UK city to have been shortlisted for the EU Green Capital award in 2008, the relevance of this project is timely and an important social record of the enthusiasm and positive engagement of its' citizens.

BTTP has begun filming these contributors as they prepare for their journey and will pick up their stories in Copenhagen between 10-15 December 2009 and then again on their return to the UK after the Summit.

The film will be shown on Internet sites including WWF International and Ecojam and may be broadcast on regional television programmes. "The film has generated great interest in what we are doing as a company; it is very exciting to be working with leaders in the green movement from the South West" said Jenny, Back To The Planet researcher.
