Greater Bristol Bus Network

A £70m programme of improvements to the city's bus network is currently under way, improving reliability and encouraging more travellers to leave their cars at home.

Last summer the first work was done on the M32 corridor, formerly a bottleneck for bus travellers as they entered the city. Improvements to the bus lane have made journey times more reliable, while elsewhere the introduction of intelligent traffic signals and new bus lanes is already speeding up journeys.

The upgrades are not restricted to the city itself, but are aimed also at commuters travelling from further afield. Services to Portishead, Weston-Super-Mare, Midsummer Norton and Radstock will all see improvements.

NextBusBristol, a GPS-based system, enables passengers to check the real departure time of the next bus from their chosen stop, so they can leave home or work at the right time and avoid waiting.
